Art Lecture
~~Big Hit Every Year~~

February 18, 2019 6-7 pm Mini-Paintings Silent Auction with closing bids 8-8:30 pm

The Mini-Paintings Silent Auction is always well attended and provides an opportunity for art enthusiasts to purchase original art at affordable prices.  Twenty-four paintings are available for sale that evening. Held at the Pioneer Inn in the Snug Harbor room, it is always a ‘shoulder-to-shoulder’ frenzy of collectors vying to purchase that unique art treasure to take home. Each of the artists are asked to bring a small original painting from home that represents their painting style.  These paintings are 5”x7”, 6”x6”. 6”x8”, 6”x9”, or 8”x8” and are offered for sale during a silent auction The Retail Price is established by the artist and the starting bid is set at $400 or 1/2 of the established retail price. Plan to attend February 18, 2019 6-7 pm to place bids or decide to a Buy it Now price of 125% of the established retail price which ensures you take that treasured painting home with you.  Final bids held 8-8:30. Historically 23-25 paintings sell at this art sale.  For those wishing to buy an original artwork at a good price, this is the art event for you.  Join in the excitement, bid on a painting/(s), and if you don’t know the artist you have the opportunity to meet him/her.

February 18, 2019 7-8 pm Art Lecture by Jean Stern, “Painting Everyday Life – The Historical Development of Genre Painting”

Jean Stern

This evening includes an art lecture 7-8 pm by Jean Stern, Associate Director UCI IMC.  Jean has presented an art lecture since the inception of this event.  He shares his knowledge of what fine art is all about, highlights art masters of the past, those new to the profession that we should ‘take note’ as they will be future masters, encourages us to appreciate the contributions artists’ artworks have made to society, shares the history of artists’ painting styles over past decades, and encourages collectors of all ages to embrace fine art in their lives. A full capacity crowd always fills the 125 courtyard seat capacity with standing room only for others.
