Maui Arts League and our sponsor Judy and Mark Ellman (owners of Honu & Frida restaurants) invites Maui youth to a day of creative expression. The goal of the event is to encourage young artists to explore their artistic talents. ‘Growing future artists’ is important to society’s long-range healthiness and Maui Arts League intends to be an active participant in making this happen. The Paint Out Workshop, taught by Darice Machel McGuire, will be held in Campbell Park on Front Street in Lahaina. The park is located next to the Lahaina Restoration Foundation’s office and the Baldwin House.
Following the Paint Out, the students, their parents, and the public are invited to a reception at the Pioneer Inn 2:30-3:30 p.m. Light refreshments served. Kim von Tempsky, retired VP of Marketing from Lahaina Galleries, will judge the student exhibition. Students paintings selected for 1st place in K-5, Middle School, and High School receive award ribbons and gift certificates for art supplies at Lahaina Ace Hardware. These three paintings will be exhibited along side award winners of the Maui Plein Air Painting Invitational artists during the weekend activities at the Royal Lahaina Resort Feb. 22-24, 2019.
The Youth Paint Out open to the first 60 students that register. The Paint Out is free to the students and art supplies are furnished by Maui Arts League. Registration open until Feb. 8, 2019. Register on line here.
The 2018 Youth Paint Out Workshop video captures the students in action. Nice event to remember. Hope to see 60 smiling kids this year.
