About Maui Arts League
Elevating fine art within the Maui community
Maui Arts League is a non-profit organization with the mission to showcase, cultivate, and build appreciation for Visual Fine Arts while creating unique opportunities for people of all ages, cultures, and backgrounds to embrace the experience of art. Currently programs include the annual 9-day Maui Plein Air Painting Invitational, 2 adult workshops, and a youth paint out. Our strategy is to foster an appreciation for fine art by offering a variety of programs such as outdoor plein air painting events, home art tours, art lectures, etc. for Maui residents and visitors.
All events free and open to the public as well as fee based collector/artist receptions.
Maui Plein Air
Feb 16-24, 2019
This 9-day event highlights 25 professional plein air painters from throughout Hawaii, the United States mainland, and Australia. The painters capture the images of Maui – its people, its beaches and ocean scenes, its majestic mountains and valleys, and its historical buildings. The public watch artists create inspiring artworks, attend art sales, and attend educational events.
Artists create inspiring paintings from locations around Maui and specifically at Lahaina Harbor, Kapalua Bay, and Royal Lahaina Resort Beach Area.
Pre and Post Event
Feb 13-15, 9am-4pm
Feb 25-27, 9am-4pm
Workshops are key to improving one’s painting skills. This year Suzie Baker from Texas will be teaching the Pre Workshop. The Post Workshop will be taught by Josh Clare from Utah. Both artists are established, successful artists who have taught many aspiring artists in the past.
These workshops provide an opportunity for our local artists to take classes from some of the most experienced plein air artists in the world. It also allows artists from other locations to come to Maui and paint in our beautiful surroundings.
